About MedAx Capital

Founder and Managing Partner, MedAx Capital

Sean Michael Murphy is the Founder and Managing Partner of MedAx Capital, bringing over three decades of Wall Street expertise to the firm. His remarkable journey began at just 19 years old when he became one of the youngest licensed securities traders on Wall Street, quickly establishing a reputation for his aggressive and diligent work ethic.

With deep expertise in options, derivatives, and complex investment banking transactions, Mr. Murphy has successfully navigated SPACs, Reg-A/D, private placements, PIPEs, mergers/acquisitions, spin-offs, uplistings, and other restructurings throughout his career. His specialized focus encompasses both private and public equity in the life science and emerging technology sectors.

In 2011, Mr. Murphy founded First Colonial Group, a boutique investment firm in Midtown Manhattan. After building the company’s success, he executed a strategic exit in 2018 to become partner at a multibillion-dollar international investment bank with five global offices. In 2021 he took his vast network of technology leaders, medical researchers, and financial experts and formed MedAx Capital. What started as a boutique firm working with a small group of software engineers and surgeons has evolved into a powerful ecosystem of scientists, geneticists, and quantum physicists—all working together to isolate the latest trends and innovation in technology and medicine.

Wall Street runs in the Murphy family bloodline. His mother made history in January of 1971 as part of the first group of women pages to work on the NYSE floor, helping pave the way for women in finance. Her groundbreaking role was featured in the Staten Island Sunday Advance in an article titled “The Mini (skirt) Comes to the Exchange.”

Born and raised in New York, Mr. Murphy spent over 30 years living and working in Manhattan before relocating to Dallas, Texas during the Covid pandemic. He resides there with his wife Corinne and seven-year-old twins, Seanny and Trinity.

The Mini "Skirt" Comes to the Exchange

Faith McTague “Murphy” was one of the first women to work as a page on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, a role traditionally held by men. Since starting on January 18, 1971, she’s taken on the fast-paced job of processing data cards through an IBM machine to update the ticker. Despite the physical demands and the chaotic, crowded environment, McTague enjoys the work and sees the challenges as worthwhile. The Exchange began hiring women as pages in December, partly due to a shortage of male workers due to the Vietnam Conflict, marking a significant shift in its long-standing traditions.
