Sean Michael Murphy is the Founder and Managing Partner of MedAx Capital, a firm he launched in 2021 after decades of success on Wall Street. His career began at the age of 19, when he became one of the youngest licensed securities traders in the industry, quickly earning a reputation for his aggressive and tireless approach. Over the years, he developed deep expertise in complex financial structures such as SPACs, PIPEs, private placements, and mergers and acquisitions, particularly in the life sciences and emerging technology sectors. Before founding MedAx, he created and later exited First Colonial Group, a boutique investment firm, and went on to become a partner at a multibillion-dollar global investment bank.
MedAx Capital began as a boutique firm working with a select group of software engineers and surgeons but has since grown into a diverse ecosystem of scientists, geneticists, and quantum physicists. The firm is focused on identifying cutting-edge innovations at the intersection of technology and medicine. Murphy’s financial acumen is part of a family legacy—his mother was one of the first women to work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange in 1971. Originally from New York, Murphy lived and worked in Manhattan for over 30 years before relocating to Dallas, Texas during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he now resides with his wife Corinne and their young twins, Seanny and Trinity.
